One of my very favorite stores is MYSTIC PAPER in downtown Mesa, Arizona. The owners, Kim and Jennifer, are some of the warmest and most down to earth people I know. Their store reflects their personality as well as their artistic vision. When I walk in there I feel at home and inspired right away. It’s because of my fondness for Mystic Paper that I am very excited to share that I have been asked to teach there.
I’ll be teaching the Push-Pull Card on Tuesday, September 12 from 6 to 8pm. My second class will be a Waterfall Card on Tuesday, September 19 from 6 to 8pm. Each class costs $20 and reservations can be made through the store.
The Push-Pull card is one of the best surprise cards you’ll ever see. It looks like an ordinary ‘tag in a pocket’ kind of card until you try to pull the tag out. The surprise comes with a second tag automatically shoots out the other side! This is a great card that can also be used as an interactive addition to a scrapbook page. I’ve made my sample using family photos to showcase the scrapbook possibilities but you’ll be free to add your own photos or some stamped images. IN addition to the normal card sized version we will be making a miniature one that is perfect for use as an ATC.
There are several ways to make a Waterfall Card and the one I’ve selected for this class is one of the easiest to master. On the front of the card is a mechanism that flips up in a cascading fashion to reveal five different panels when the ribbon is pulled downward. Each panel can hold it’s own message or image. If that isn’t enough the card then opens like a regular card to provide a message space on the inside.
My husband borrowed my laptop this week so I haven’t been able to get my club photos transferred yet but I want to tell you about our project. While surfing the web I found a post on Splitcoaststampers from a user named mommakate. She had a perfect idea… you know, one of those ideas that makes you say, “Why didn’t I think of that!!!!” She took 3 decorated dominoes and glued them together to form a photo holder. Rather than try to describe it I’ll give you the link to her message:SPLITCOAST LINK
We made these at club this week using the Adirondack Alcohol inks and my favorite glue, Designer Dries Clear by Art Institute. That glue will hold anything together! Artsyfran put pictures of her photo holders on her photo blog and you can see them here: Artsy in AZ

Hello Cher, It’s nice to meet you. I love teabag folding! When they first came over to the US I there weren’t any instruction sites on the web yet and I was too cheap to order a book. I would look at the scans posted by the overseas gals and practice fold until I could figure out how they did each medallion. It took some time but I enjoyed every minute of it. To make sure I didn’t forget the folds I made a book and on each page I put a sample medallion and a hand drawn diagram of the fold.
I don’t know if Wendy mentioned it but I’m having a contest on the blog this month. By posting you have entered! Good luck.
