I learned something this week. October is traditionally a bad month for retailers. A very bad month. Big chain stores can weather the lows pretty well but it’s got to be tough on the small independent stores. Most of my favorite places are small independent stores so I am declaring October the “LOVE AN INDIE” month. Pick your favorite small store and go spend $5. Show them that you love them and want them to still be here next year at this time. A small $5 donation will get you the thrill of helping, the joy of having a neighborhood indie and $5 worth of merchandise!!! You can’t loose! Go show your love today!!!
I’m throwing my love at MYSTIC PAPER in Mesa AZ and STAMP WORKS in Chandler AZ. If you live in the East Valley I hope you will join me and let these stores know that we care!
Please spread the word.. save our indies!
I'm Chia Wald and this is my blog. Here is where I share my thoughts and my art. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it isn't. That's life... and that's me.
Stumble it!

What a great idea - unfortunately I don’t have any local scrapping or stamping stores in the area that I can support. Guess I’ll have to pop into the coffee shop around the corner as a substitute
We’ll be visiting my in-laws in Mesa next month, so I will be sure to visit those two shops. Can you recommend any other “must sees”?

Ink It! in Gilbert is another nice stamping store and you can’t miss XPEDX in Tempe. They sell card stock by the sheet and have a great stamping department!

Thanks for the info - wonder what my hubby would say to adding a “crafting” category to our vacation budget?

I forgot to mention.. If youn plan to be here on the 4th or 5th you can go to the Rubber Stamp Convention at the Mesa Convention Center. And Xpedx will be having a big sale with demos on the 4th.

Unfortunately, we won’t be arriving until the 15th. I was a little disappointed that I can’t make any of the classes at Mystic Paper, but now I’m absolutely devastated that I’m missing a RS convention! I’ve only been to one, and it was rather small. Oh, well, it’s not like I really *need* more stamps
Thanks again for the scoop!

Mystic Paper frequently adds classes so keep an eye on their websites. The second link (Kim’s blog) might provide the most up-to-date info.

If you want to know when the convention will be back in Mesa for future planning keep an eye on this site:
