Meme and Chain Letter

April 24th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Trish D just tagged me with a meme. Normally I don’t do these. Normally I don’t do chain letters either. I’ve kind of been a crabby old poop when it comes to things like this. I guess it must be true about people becoming more mellow as they age because recently I’ve participated in a chain letter and I’m about to participate in a meme. The world will never be the same again.

The chain letter came from a friend I’ve known a long time. It was designed as a way to share ATCs. The plan is simple enough… Send an ATC to the six people on the list. Replace one name with your own. Send the new list off to six new people. I didn’t expect much from this. I sent an ATC to the six on the list and then sent the new list along with an ATC to six people I know. I think all six of them decided to break the chain. I can’t blame them because I’m a chain breaker from way back. I only got one card from this swap. It was a thank you card from someone on the original list I’d sent cards to. It was one more card then I’d expected to get. I guess that makes me a winner.

That brings us to the meme. I was actually thinking of blowing this one off but then I read Trish’s answers and was shocked to find one of her experiences was very much like one of mine. I think I need an excuse not to clean my room this afternoon because I took that as a sign that I was suppose to do the meme. The meme challenges you to share seven weird things about yourself and then send the challenge on to seven other people. I’ll just put the challenge here and the first seven people to read this can consider themselves tagged. It’s the honor system and if you read the chain letter paragraph you have a pretty good idea what I’m expecting from this.

So, here are my seven weird things. (Those who know me well can stop flailing about shouting, “ONLY SEVEN!?!”)

1. This is the one that is similar to Trish D… Way back when I was a waitress I delivered an unwanted beverage into a man’s lap. I had been rushing to take refills to my table when another waitress cut a corner short and just about had a head on collision with me. My quick thinking caused me to stop short and avoid impact. Unfortunately quick thinking doesn’t allow you to think out the consequences. I was carrying a pot of hot coffee. When I put on the brakes the coffee splashed up out of the pot and into the man’s lap. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he was wearing white shorts. OK, Maybe not weird but it is kind of weird that Trish goes around serving beverages to men’s laps also.

2. I can’t sneeze once and get it over with. I usually sneeze three times.

3. Sometimes when I am at someone else’s home and I see the toilet paper put on the roll backwards, I turn it around.

4. I have a brown streak in my otherwise blue eye.

5. I have an extra lower vertebra.

6. Every where I’ve lived I’ve hung a stuffed fish (small mouth bass) on the kitchen wall. It’s one my husband caught as a boy.

7. I love this one. I was having a hard time thinking up number seven so I asked my husband what was weird about me. I asked if there was something strange that I collected or kept that other people didn’t. His reply, “Me.”

Thanks for playing along - it’s funny, because while I have never in my life responded to a chain letter, I don’t mind cheesy online stuff like this.

And note to self: if we ever meet in real life, all beverages must be in spill-proof containers :)

LOL, I avoided saying which way because I know that “my” wrong way may not be “your” wrong way! For me the right way is coming over the top. Actually, I haven’t changed anyone’s paper in many years but I still get a strong urge. It’s like wanting to straighten a crooked picture on a wall. I also have issues with toilet lids being up or down. I could keep Dr. Phil busy for a LONG time! LOL
