I found a new technique today that I am really loving. I was playing with one of the resist techniques that Nancy Curry has in her book, Texture Effects. In this particular technique you add some color by doing the old bleeding tissue paper technique. This is the one where you have to have just the right type of tissue so that when it gets wet the color bleeds out of it and stains your card stock. Well, I have a lot more of the wrong type of tissue than I do of the right kind so I decided to go ahead and use some of the wrong and see what would happen. I love the result! It is kind of a resist in itself. It reminds me a lot of iced up winter windows so I am referring to it as Winter Windows.
Here is how to do this for yourself. Begin with glossy card stock. Tear the tissue into small pieces and wet it with a mister. After it is wet, place the pieces of tissue onto the card stock in a random fashion. Use a heat tool to dry the tissue. Pick off any bits of tissue that didn’t blow away in the drying process. If you want to add some resist images stamp them now with Versamark and use the heat tool to dry it. Now rub dye inks all over the card stock, using 3 or 4 different colors overlapping each other.
I'm Chia Wald and this is my blog. Here is where I share my thoughts and my art. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it isn't. That's life... and that's me.
Stumble it!

This is so cool! I love that you tried even though you didn’t have the “right” tools!

You did a great job with the technique. Some of those papers bleed better than others, but you found a great way to use the ones that didn’t bleed well.
