Distress inks are cool, right? They are unlike any other ink, right? So, what do you do with them?

I’ve been asked this by a few different people. I have to admit that I haven’t done a whole lot with them but I do have every color in both the pads and the re-inkers. Hmmm.. maybe this should be a post about OCD rather than it being about inks.. I’ll save that though for another day. Today I want to talk about inks.
The picture is one of my favorite pieces. When Ranger came out with the second 12 colors of Distress Ink my friend, Chris, was one of the first to get them. About that same time our club met at her house and she brought them out for us to play with. I was sponging the different colors onto a card just to see what they would look like and that is how this piece got started.
Two of the best things about Distress Ink is that it will hold it’s color when wet and that it moves when wet. Knowing this, I just had to spritz the whole card, once I was done sponging on the ink. All the rows of color merged and took on a softness that the scan just doesn’t capture. It was then that I began to think that it looked like a landscape with a sunset in the sky.
All the other images were stamped on with a variety of dye inks after the Distress Ink had dried.
I know some of you lurkers use Distress inks (don’t make me call out your names). Please leave a comment and tell the rest of us what you like to do with them. ( This site requires you register before you can post comments - it is quick and painless, I promise!)
I'm Chia Wald and this is my blog. Here is where I share my thoughts and my art. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it isn't. That's life... and that's me.
Stumble it!

I must admit that I have them in every color, too, but haven’t gotten very creative. (And I’m not even sure exactly where all of them are stashed right now, either). I do like to use them in conjunction with the teflon sheet: just smear/drip colors randomly, mist with water, then press paper onto the sheet. You never know what you’re going to get, but I’ve never been disapointed. I’m in the process of re-organizing my craft pit, so hopefully I’ll have time and inspiration soon!!
