Playing With My Friends

July 6th, 2007 · No Comments

I was in a club that met once a week to play and make art. Things were going great and then everyone got busy and we’ve found it much harder to get everyone together on a regular basis. That is what makes today very special… three of my friends were free to play!

These are the girls; Billie, Chris and Arlynne. When we were meeting weekly Cyndy would also join us. Her life is still super busy.

I’m still working my way through Texture Effects by Nancy Curry so the girls joined me in a project called “Perfect Paisley”.

This technique uses spray webbing paint. I found out at the last minute that my local craft store and my local home improvement store have stopped selling this. Bummer. A couple of the gals brought some spray webbing with them but I decided to try my hand at a substitute. I set my card into a shoe box lid along with a second card and a marble. I squirted a little paint onto the second card and started rolling the marble around. This doesn’t work quite as well as rolling a marble around with ink, since the paint is thicker, but it still produced some nice results. When I was done I had a bonus. The card I’d used to load the paint was pretty cool looking itself. The following photos are what we did today. Some are works in progress and others are finished products.
