Waiting for the Monsoon

July 6th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Monsoon season usually starts around July 7th here in the Phoenix area. While the season hasn’t officially started yet ( the dew point has to be 55 or higher for 3 consecutive days) the winds made themselves known right on schedule.

About 6:15 tonight the gentle breeze turned into some very strong winds. As I ran out to pick up blown around chairs out back I noticed the eastern sky was starting to look brown.

A dust storm was on its way. The sky was still blue in the west.

A few minutes later and the eastern sky was more dusty.

The winds didn’t last very long so the dust didn’t get too bad. My husband was driving home from work and said that it looked worse further south. Chris, was there anything dramatic down your way?

Hi Chia. Nope, we didn’t get any more than you did. Lots of wind, a bit of dirt, not even enough to muddy our pool, and noooooo rain.

    Smiles,
    Chris
