The Book That Followed Me Home

September 5th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I was in Target the other day looking for peroxide and envelopes. I was almost ready to head for the checkout when the voice within said, “I need to read a book. I need to buy a book and read it.” The next thing I knew I was in the book department and casually looking at book covers. Without much thought I picked one up, tossed it into the cart and headed to the checkout.

This is particularly weird when you consider that I don’t read very many books. I read lots of online news sites, blogs, and magazines but reading books is usually limited to a few romance novels per year. Still, I just had to get and book and for some unknown reason I just had to have this book. I had to have Tuesdays with Morrie.

It wasn’t until after I got home that I took the time to read the back cover and try to figure out what this book was about. That’s also when the price tag caught my eye and I was struck with the thought, “What were you thinking, spending money on a book you don’t have a clue about?”

I’m not quite sure what caused me to bring this book home but I am really glad that I did. I spent a few hours today reading it. I was so drawn in that I couldn’t stop until I had finished the entire book. This is the story of a writer who reconnects with his old professor as the professor’s life is winding down. In his final days the professor still has a lot to teach the younger man about living.

This is a book that everyone should read.

I love this book. It takes place with a graduate of my university and a former professor of mine. It is a fabulous book! I’m so glad you read it.

Hi Fran, he sounds like he was a wonderful professor. Lucky you for getting to share time with him. Lucky for the rest of us that he and the writer shared this with us.
