Once again I was working on a technique from Texture Effects, by Nancy Curry. This technique is a background wash using watercolor crayons. I discovered that my watercolor crayons suck. Luckily my friend had her Stampin’ Up! set with her and let me use them. My set is made by Staedtler and the color just doesn’t want to move with water. I’ve heard that the Lyra ones are pretty good. Has anyone used them?
This card is from one of the backgrounds that I messed up. I really wasn’t happy with the way it looked so I cut it into four ATCs and added more stamping to it. Not bad for a reject, eh?
Does anyone know who makes the face stamp? I borrowed it from a friend and it doesn’t have any manufacturers markings on it.
I’m just about through with this book now. It has been a lot of fun working through it, front to back. I have a lot of books on my shelf that I looked at but never took the time to really use. Setting a goal to try every project in the book was a wonderful thing to do. I have really enjoyed the experience. There were a couple of projects I didn’t care for and many that I altered to my own tastes, but none that I regret trying.
Today is the big sale at Xpedx and the Rubber Stamp Convention at the Mesa Centennial Hall. I’m going to hang around at Xpedx for a bit while my friend, Chris, does a Make & Take from 10 till 2. Then we are going to stop by the convention and see if there is anything new or exciting.
I'm Chia Wald and this is my blog. Here is where I share my thoughts and my art. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it isn't. That's life... and that's me.
Stumble it!

FYI - the SU ones are made by Lyra, they’re just custom colors. That’s what I have and am quite happy with them, but I’ve also heard good things about the Caran d’Ache brand (not sure on the spellin, though)
