I have long believed that the best cats are not the ones you pick out, but the ones that pick you. I’ve had many cats over the years and the ones that have just shown up on the doorstep are the ones I miss the most. I am hoping that the saying is still true…
My daughter and her husband drove down from Illinois to spend the holidays with us. When they arrived at 10:30pm on Saturday night there was a little cat waiting in the driveway to greet them. She really wanted to come in the house but we left her outside thinking she would soon run home. By 1:30am she hadn’t left the front step and the weather man was telling us that we were under a freeze warning. I just couldn’t leave her outside to freeze so I gave in and let the kids bring her in. She is the sweetest little thing. My son kept her in his room over night and the next morning we put her back outside.
We didn’t notice her again until Christmas Eve. My neighbor stopped over late at night and when we opened the door this little ball of fur raced through the open door and straight back to the cat food dish. (My daughter brought her two cats to visit so we just happened to have cat food and litter boxes in the house.)

She has shown no interest in leaving the house even though it hasn’t been an instant love match between her and my daughter’s two cats. She doesn’t have a collar and we took her to the vet to check for a microchip, but she doesn’t have one. No lost pet posters have shown up on the mailboxes. It looks like she is abandoned so we are planning to keep her. I’ll wait a little longer to see if any lost pet posters show up and if they don’t I’ll make an appointment with the vet to get her shots and find out if she has been spayed yet.
In the meantime we are discussing names for her. We haven’t come up with the perfect name yet so I am turning to you for suggestions. Please leave a note and tell me what you think we should name her.

I came really close the other day to adopting a couple of kittens. Really close! Instead of being 50-50 I am now 70-30 on getting a couple of kitties. Not quite there yet!

Here are my favorites:
I like “Xena the warrior cat” - We had a guinea pig named Xena and since then it’s been a favorite alias of mine.
Or….maybe something like “Mystic”.
Even Luna might be a good one.
You might need to know more about her purrsonality before you decide on a name.
“Stella” (from streetcar named desire” is also a favorite of mine….but then I’ve got Cleo, Gomez, Moody, Lupin, Jagr, Misty, Slinky, and Nikki.
All right, I’m way too into this. Either way, I’m happy she’ll have a wonderful home.
