Wow! I have a Verizon phone that is over 3 years old and I love it. I have called 911 for an accident I saw, but did not get any horrible alarm sound. Thank goodness!! If it ever is necessary to purchase a new phone, I will inquire about that alarming alarm!

Same here! I have a verizon phone that’s a couple years old, and have had the opportunity to test it out dialing 911. Fortunately, there’s no alarm sound on mine.

It sounds like it is a good idea to save a few bucks and keep our old phones.

UPDATE: I came across an article at http://www.komonews.com/news/15752097.html that says Verizon will make this alarm feature optional on new phone they sell starting sometime later (maybe already since this is an older article) this year.
