It’s Raining….

Cacti???

rain.jpg

I’ve lived in Arizona for eleven years and in that time we have had a full day of rain exactly twice. The first time was last Sunday and the second time was yesterday. Oh, we have had rainy days before but it was always very spotty at our house. There may have been a couple hours of showers and clouds throughout the day but it has never actually rained for the entire day. Even when the afternoon showers of Monsoon season hit the valley our house usually sits just outside the band of heavy rain.

We are feeling quite soggy right now.  All the low spots in the yard are filled with water and giant weeds are popping up out of nowhere. Our poor little cactus out by the pool has become so waterlogged that it could no longer hold itself up. It broke off and fell into the pool.

Yep, it’s really exciting around here, folks.

Did you see the mountains out east of here? Beautiful! All covered with snow!!First time I ever saw that here. The Rim Country must be snowed in! My saguaro is so fat and full of water that it may burst! I expect a spectacular wildflower spring! The air is clear! Wonderful vistas! I love the Sonoran Desert!!

I haven’t been out to see them. We have no views from our house. Just the back of the neighbor’s house. :( I did see snow on them a while back and took pictures.
