Today I had a play day with my friends Billie, Chris and Arlynne. We tried another technique from Artist Trading Card Workshop by Bernie Berlin. In this technique you build a textured background with tissue paper and paint. I used a metallic paint so my backgrounds all looked like recycled candy wrappers. I finished these two cards with printed images I found online and words cut from a magazine.
The following three cards are not yet finished. I’m trying to think of words or sayings to use with them. The ladies all look like they need a cartoonists thought bubble with some really clever comments in it.

Let’s play a little game. Leave me your suggestions for captions on any of these three cards and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a package of Inkssentials 1/8″ thick circle Pop it! shapes. I’ll draw a name on Tuesday (6/3/08) and announce the winner.
I'm Chia Wald and this is my blog. Here is where I share my thoughts and my art. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it isn't. That's life... and that's me.
Stumble it!

My comment is for the card with the woman that is alone. My caption is…
“Will I ever see you again?” Where the heck have you guys been hiding? Miss ya!

Kim! I miss you too!
I was actually planning to come up there tomorrow but my son has asked to borrow my car to move out with. Seeing as I’m the one showing him the door I can’t very well turn down his request. Soon, I promise.

Ok, my caption for the 3rd card is. Why yes they’re mine, I paid for them!

Welll guess I missed the deadline for the RAK but that’s QUITE all right…I agree they need captions but I’m not so good at the spontaneous-random-clever-quip thing, myself! LOVE the background technique. Is it just tissue and paint or is there glue in there too??

Lynne Anne, we used gel medium as a glue to hold the tissue on and then we added the paint. You don’t need to wait for the gel medium to dry before adding the paint. Keep working the tissue and pressing it down till you reach the amount of texture you prefer.
