Hey guys, thanks a lot for all your concern. You made me feel well cared for
I had a root canal done today. It turned out to be the tooth next to the one that was hurting the most. One touch of the cold stick and there was NO doubt! I about flew out of the chair when he touched it. There were four roots to clean out but he was quick and numbed me up enough to make it painless. Now I have some super size Motrin to see me through the next day or two. After that I’ll be going back to my regular dentist to see if he wants to replace the crown or just put a permanent filling in this one. Cross your fingers that he just decides to do the filling. He put this crown on a few years ago and it was too high. I had pain in my jaw and then got to the point where I could barely open my mouth to eat. Next thing I knew the tooth across from it broke, the pain went away immediately and I was headed back to the dentist to pay for another crown. Those puppies are expensive!

Glad you got that darn problem taken care of- the hard part anyway. Hang in there.

I am glad to hear that you had the problem solved for now. Root canals are not pleasant! Neither is crown work. If you have had a crown, I fear that a filling isn’t going to take care of it. Hopefully they can place another crown rather than remove the tooth. Keep us posted! Hugs!!

Judy, I’ve got 6 crowns so I know all about how “not pleasant” they can be.
I also had a root canal in one of those crowns years ago and they just put a perm. filling in it and it has done fine for me. I think it will boil down to the age of the crown and if the dentist feels it should be lower so as to limit the pressure from the opposite tooth. It’s all out of my hands. This has been quite a year, first my insides revolt, then my teeth, I expect my hair to fall out any day now.
Billie, I’m hanging in there – and keeping the bottle of Motrin near!
