Good morning. I’m still in Nebraska cooling my toes in 7 degree weather. At this moment I deeply envy my friends who are starting their days in a balmy 61 degrees!
I’ve spent a good part of my week scanning the collection of old family photos that my uncle has here in Nebraska. In one old box of photos I found this stick pin attached to a handwritten note that says my great great grandpa, Simon Peter Ulch, wore it prior to 1900.
I think this picture sums up my week pretty well because my time here has been full of unexpected treasure.
I'm Chia Wald and this is my blog. Here is where I share my thoughts and my art. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it isn't. That's life... and that's me.
Stumble it!

What a wonderful find! The stickpin is really great! Were you able to keep it?

I wish Judy, I wish
This belongs to my uncle now. It was mixed in with several hundred photos of his that I was scanning or I’d never even know that it existed. Too bad one of the photos didn’t show the old man actually wearing it!
Too bad, too, that I didn’t have a modeling compound handy to make a mold of it.

Hi, I was researching Simon Peter Ulch who is in my family tree and ran across your post. Ulch/Anderson/Belding/Siebe/Brown is the line to me. My Siebe family lives in Jefferson County, NE. Mainly Jansen and Fairbury.
I have him born in Medford, MA in 1845 and migrated through Washinigton, IA, then Shermon IA, then to Washington, KS and buried in Milford, NE in 1913.
Thanks for the post. I like to add these tidbits to my research.

Hello Joel, it’s nice to meet you. My grandpa Archie was Mildred’s sister. It looks like we are second cousins, once removed. I”ll catch up with you in email.
