Leandra Beads

Chris saw a video that Suze Weinberg made about the Leandra Bead and we decided to try it for ourselves. We got all out melting pots and UTEE out and went to town on this one.

These beads are very quick to make but I think it needs a bit of practice to get the twirling motion down.  I also think it take a little practice to figure out just the right temperature for the melted UTEE. Too hot and the UTEE runs all over while you are twirling and your bead gets really lop sided, too cool and you can’t dip your bead into the sludge. These aren’t huge challenges but it is something you want to play with for a little bit.

They are pretty, aren’t they? I’m not one to wear a lot of jewelry so I think I’m going to try and find a different use for these.

Isn’t this one beautiful? It is my favorite.

This pot was full of black UTEE and Chris decided to add lots of bright colors of UTEE to it. Chris really loves to play with UTEE and can always come up with the best ideas for it.

BULL UPDATE

This is Mike’s bull all finished.

I took the photo from Mike’s blog without asking him. Do you think he will be mad at me?

Remember this one?

This is Chris’ bull and she has been working on him. He is going to be a clown bull for her grandson.  She isn’t done yet but I snapped a picture of the work in progress.

I think her grandson is going to love it.

The beads are a pretty clever idea. The really look very much like pricey dichrotic glass beads. Good job everyone.

The beads are gorgeous! I’ll be interested to hear what you decide to use them for.

Mike’s bull looks great. That’s a neat technique he used on it.

I think Chris’ grandson will love the clown bull. What a fun idea!

Hello everyone. Did you take a peek at Suze’s video to see what she did with the beads? I still haven’t come up with a plan for mine. I’m busy bouncing around an idea for a little friend for Cloud Grazer. :)
