While the girls were here on Friday we were busy working on a bird project.  Billie had seen some artwork at the Art Unraveled sale that looked like fun so she took a photo and showed it to us. The pieces at the sale were painted canvas with paper birds, eggs, nests, etc glued on and some doodling to finish it off. We worked on canvas panels rather than the framed canvas and each one of us tried a different coloring approach. You could tell it was a good project because it was sooooo quiet in the room.

This is Arlynne’s piece. I think Arlynne is the member of our group who has had the most artistic growth. She has really found her groove with backgrounds and mixing colors.

This is Chris’ piece. Chris is a Jersey Girl and you just can’t get the shoreline out of her heart. I think she did a great job on this.

This one belongs to Billie. Isn’t it great how they are all the same project but turned out so very different? Good job, Billie!

And this one is mine. I stayed the truest to the inspiration image. The original artist had such good ideas that I just didn’t want to depart far from them for my first piece. I took some time finding the colors I wanted for the background. I started out with watercolors, then added some glazes and finally finished it off with some sponged on ink. I’m really happy with the way it turned out.

Oh! Today is someone’s birthday. I need to go look though my photo stash and I’ll be back in a bit with a special birthday greeting.
