And The Search Goes On

August 31st, 2009 · 8 Comments

I just talked with The Boy. This morning his agent put his offer in for the house with the courtyard and corner kitchen window. A short time later the listing agent called back to say that unknown to her, someone had submitted an offer late Friday and the bank had accepted it on the spot. So, unless that deal falls apart, the house is out of the running.

The problem now is that The Boy was so excited  about that house that his second and third choices are no longer interesting to him. He has had the taste of a perfect fit and doesn’t want to settle for less. And so the search goes on…

Meanwhile, he is getting really pissed at State Farm Insurance.  Last week he asked his agent for a statement saying he has been a customer in good standing all along and listing his last 12 months of payment history. He needs this as part of his mortgage application. The agent told him that “corporate” won’t allow him to do that. The Boy works with State Farm’s billing department as part of his job so when he got to work today he called them up and asked for the information. Corporate told him that the agent had access to the same system they do and it was his responsibility to help The Boy. After driving back over to the agent’s office he was again told that they couldn’t do that. Honestly, how freaking hard should it be to get a print out of you last year’s payment history? Now in addition to shopping for a new house, The Boy is shopping for a new insurance company and agent.

    What a lousy agent! Pathetic.

So sorry! I liked that corner kitchen window, too. Had one like that in Virginia and loved it!

Keep looking! There is another out there that is perfect for The Boy. He is lucky that he can qualify to buy a home. In this market, not many are. Don’t give up hope!

Sorry that house became unavailable. But perhaps something will still happen to that buyer… Remember I had 3 that dropped out! Also, he is right to keep looking for one that strikes him just right… the biggest purchase of your life should be “perfect”… or you tire of become a slave to it! ha .
Even Wal Mart will give you a print out of your past years payments for prescriptions…. I’d contact the State Insurance Dept.
That doesn’t sound right! Good Luck….

The Boy went to a different State Farm agent this evening and explained his situation. They were very helpful and gave him a phone number to call and the name of a special statement to ask for. I’d tell you what it is but I’ve already forgotten. Looks like he will be switching agents.

Update on the insurance problem. The Boy called the customer service number he was given and the helpful man was telling him “no problem”. The Boy asked if it could say how long he had been a customer and that there had been no interruptions of coverage. Again no problem. He did say that the agent must be the one to give him the letter so The Boy told how the agent had refused to do so. “Let me get them on the phone”, says the agent. It was a 3 way call and when the agent tried to say that The boy had never asked for this particular document, The Boy was all over them! Yay for the boy! The only drawback is that they told him it will take 24 hours to process and then they will mail it to him. They didn’t want him to pick it up for some reason. He is wanting it for loan approval so in the meantime he will print out copies of bank statements showing the payments. Everything is happening so fast. I’d better get moving on my makeover of the lamps I finally talked him into taking. :)

Some places seem to think they have to “mail” something rather than let you pick it up, to make sure it goes to the right person.
We’ve run into “that” logic before!
