I figure I’ll call this the fall update because the way I’ve been keeping this blog up I just may not be back until winter!

I’m finding it hard to belive that it is fall already. Of course the 100 plus degrees outside don’t help me with this. Pretty soon it will be time to park a lawn chair in the driveway, grab a cool drink and sit with a bowl full of candy, waiting for the trick or treaters. That just cracks me up. Where I grew up and raised my children you always planned Halloween costumes with plenty of room to put a winter coat underneath them. Most years my kids also had to deal with a cold rain. Being able to sit outside and enjoy visiting with the neighbors on Halloween night almost makes up for missing out on the cool, crisp, colorful falls in Connecticut. Almost.

Last week Mike came to play with the girls and I. He was a darling and basically gave us one of his foil tape classes. I finished the background on a Halloween piece and then came home to embellish it. I think it is a wonderful addition to my growing collection of Halloween decorations. No one got beyond the background so I asked the girls to bring their finished pieces tomorrow so that we can all see them.

I finally got my chairs recovered. Between all the time it took me to make final design choices and the arthritis in my hand acting up, this almost turned into the never ending project. I’m very happy with the new look and have already taken on a new project to fill their void on my to-do list.

In addition to the lamp project, The Boy and I found a mirror with a wide frame that we plan to do in a matching foil tape finish. He also found a painting online that he dearly wants. The price tag is way out of the budget so I’ve agreed to paint him a copy of it. I’m sure mine won’t be quite as wonderful as an original but the image is pretty basic so I think the copy will make him happy. I can’t wait for us to start making progress with the decorating so that I can share some before and after photos with you.

I wonder if The Boy knows just how spoiled and lucky he is? I wonder if The Girl has any thoughts on how I can spoil her a bit also? I wonder if The Girl knows how much I wish she were here near me.
