Let There Be Light

Recliner Man and I spent yesterday at The Boy’s house.  What was meant to be a couple hour project turned into an eight hour chore.

The Boy bought a new light/fan for his dining room and his dad was going to show him how to hang it and how to put the fan and light onto different switches.  As soon as they had the power off and the switch plates off they ran into issues. There were more wires running in and out of the switch box than  rice grains in a Chinese restaurant. It took a couple trips up into the attic and lots of wiring diagrams being drawn to finally sort it all out.The final consensus is that the original electrician was either drunk or trying to save on wire at any cost.

Recliner Man informs me that the space over the vaulted ceiling was meant for younger, thinner men to crawl around in.  At least no one came through the ceiling on this job.

While the guys were crawling around in the blown in insulation, I was outside trimming trees.  I think his yard had doubled in size by the time I was done.

After the yard, my chore was to read the directions while the guys had fun playing on the ladders.  The job of reading directions is a seriously underrated and thankless job. The guys get all the glory for a job well done but I know they could have never done this without me. How do I know this? Because despite the fact that they were always 3 steps ahead of me or 2 steps behind, it was always me that they turned to when something didn’t work out quite right, and that happened more than once.

Goodbye old, out of place, country styled light.

Hello beautiful!

And uh-oh! There is that mystery blur spot again. I seem to have dust on the digital sensor of my camera. Time to find a camera repair shop. Hey, guess what? I’ve actually been doing a little bit of art lately and tomorrow’s post will have some pictures of it. Imagine that, art on an arts and craft blog! What are the chances?

What a great fan – sorry it turned out to be such a job but end result was well worth it. The tree looks great too!
