I know they are out there, I’ll hide behind this tree.

We humans have been having a wonderful time since my daughter and her husband arrived from Illinois. There has been shopping, restaurants, favorite recipes, more shopping, conversation, and lots of good times. The other day my good friend and her husband came over for an evening of cards and Pizza. My daughter’s husband isn’t a big fan of Cribbage so after a few hands The Boy arrived and took his seat at the game.

The cats haven’t been having as much fun together. Abbey isn’t the friendliest when it comes to other cats. She hides her fears behind a lot of hissing and growling.  We have found a routine that works pretty well. Abbey makes frequent escapes outside, coming in to nap in her favorite spot while the boys are also asleep in another room. At night we bring her into our room to sleep and close the door while the boys roam the house. All other times Abbey is a bit paranoid and peering around corners.

Tonight we are traveling to the other side of the valley to have a holiday dinner with my son-in-law’s family. After that we will be back here for our traditional opening of one gift, then off to bed so we can get up early for an Aebelskiver breakfast and the opening of all the gifts, followed by a grand turkey dinner. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen on Christmas Day.

Maybe if I close my eyes they will go away.
