Crafting With My Daughter

December 29th, 2009 · 2 Comments

My daughter is a talented craftsman who works primarily with fabric and her trusty sewing machine. You may have seen her work in her Anodyne Design shop on Etsy. (Um, Sweetie, your shop is empty.  Time to start sewing something fabulous again.) It makes me happy that crafting is something she and I can share and I’ve been looking forward to playing with her while she is here visiting.

We finally found time for a play day and I decided that for this one we would dig into my stash of goodies and try something a little out of her comfort zone.  Our choice of material was beads and we decided to make bracelets. She made a single bracelet with three strands while I opted for two single strand bracelets.

I really enjoyed working on our bracelets together. It has been so nice having them here with us for the holidays. It’s sad to think that there are only a few days left to enjoy their company.  Abbey probably won’t be quite so sad to see them go. She has been spending a lot of time outside, shut into the safety of my bedroom, or tip toeing around on high alert. One of the visiting cats would like to be her friend and she hasn’t warmed up to that idea very well. The other has decided it would be fun to torment her. There haven’t been any big fights but I do stay busy keeping track of where all the cats are and providing a safe escort down the hall when needed.

My son in law has helped me do some updating on my blog and I  plan to make a few more changes. It has all been behind the scenes type of adjustments and I think everything is working correctly. If you notice any new glitches I’d appreciate it if you would let me know about them.

I haven’t done a good job of keeping up with the blogs that I read. I’ll be checking in with you  soon  and leaving comments where I can.  I’ve been thinking of all of you and hoping that your holidays have been happy ones. Thanks to all of you who have been sticking with me even though the posts have been few and far between. It is always nice looking at the stats knowing you are still out there. Speaking of stats, and just as a curious side note – Over the past couple of weeks I have had a ton of hits for 1. Origami Kimono Directions, 2. Prayer Bar Recipe, and 3. Kitchen Bouquet. EDIT: My daughter informs me that I ended this post on an odd note that didn’t make any sense. LOL Maybe she is right. I just have been amused by the volume of people looking for kimonos, prayer bars, and KB lately, and when I thought of my stats they came to mind… and typed right out of my fingers. Just another one of those moments when you never know what random thing is going to pop out of my mind to amuse and bewilder. The End. :P
