THE ANGELFISH

(May 2003.. Two of the Angels have paired off and spawn about every 8 days now. Goldie is the dad and Spot is the mom)

(3/2004) Goldie and Spot have been a pair for a very long time now. One of their spawns made it to free swimming stage before looking too much like food so we were able to save some. They were all silver striped ones. My daughter now has two if them in her tank. Blacky paired with Halfblack for a while (we have some of their young in a tank now and are waiting for them to get large enough to show their colors) and is now paired with Tallguy. Halfblack has passed away. The Silver Dollars spawned! I forgot to take pictures :( The males developed large black spots on their sides and black edges to their fins when the female was getting ready. The largest of the males was the father. We happened to be watching and got to see the whole thing. It wasn't long before the cories and loaches were cleaning up the eggs so there would be no hatch. (4/2004) Spot and Stubby have been fighting over Goldie. GOldie and Gilly have been fighting over Stubby. Meanwhile, Spot was ready to spawn so Goldie left Stubby and went back to Spot for a few hours. Then Stubby was ready to spawn. GOldie and Gilly couldn't decide a winner so they both fertelized the eggs. Now the Silver DOllars are getting ready to spawn again and this time I have a few pictures. The first shows the largest male as the black markings are beginning to show. Normally none of the black spots/edges are visable. The second photos shows the female with a male behind her. She has anal fin damage from a Tiger Barb attack a year ago that will not regrow at the bottom. The third photo shows two males in persuit of the female. The first male has tail damage from a recent attempt at stealing Angel eggs.
