This was a temporary tank (10 gal.) with 5 adult angels in it. When it became clear the parents were going to protect their fry we put a divider in the tank to keep the other three adults away. A couple of days later we moved one of them to our big community tank and found a new home for the other two. Since then we've been letting the parents raise the fry in the 10 gal. tank. Some fry vanished when we cleaned (we hadn't realized some had made it past the divider in the gravel) and others just vanished. It's 12/16/04 and there have been 14 for a few days now.

1/02/05 The parents are preparing to spawn again.
1/02/06 New eggs were laid on 1/02 and for a while everything was calm. The parents didn't seem to mind the fry swimming around the eggs. Then a few fry started to figure out how to eat the eggs. Then things got ugly. We put the divider back into the tank and were able to scoop up 11 of the 12 fry for transfer. Unfortunately many were injured and now we only have 6. Shortly after the fry were removed the eggs started dissapearing. Once they were gone the female began to attack the male. By the time we saw this the male had suffered quite a bit of fin and tail damage. Right now the male is living in tupperware while a new tank is being readied. I think the fry will get the new 10 gal and the parents will share one with a divider in place. At least for the time being... Below are a few pictured taken when the new eggs were laid. Once the fry are in their own tank I'll continue to post photos of their growth.
